If we have children and / or pets at home, it is quite likely that our walls are not impeccable like the day we paint it.
Cleaning the walls regularly is a way to preserve the beauty of our rooms. Here we explain how:
Step 1: Identify the type of paint on the wall.
Glossy or enameled paints will resist washing easily, but decorative, stained, or hanging paper finishes will not hold up as much and may come off if you rub too hard.
Step 2: Pre-cleaning phase
No matter what type of paint you have used on your walls, you must remove the dust with a cloth or brush. We highly recommend using the vacuum brush attachment to remove dust.
Step 3: Soft Cleaning
Lay towels or newspaper on the floor to collect excess water that dripped from the walls during cleaning.
You will need a mild cleaner and a slightly stronger cleaner for stains and difficult dirt.
To avoid damaging your walls, start with the softest cleaner in the world: WATER.
Step 4: Clean the walls.
Wipe the walls with a clean sponge moistened with water and see if that works, if the stains and dirt are not difficult, that might be enough to restore shine and beauty.
If not, proceed to mix a little water with dish soap. Try a second time.
Didn’t it work?
We will give you a better recipe:
- Half a cup of vinegar
- A cup of ammonia
- A quarter cup of baking soda
All of this mixed with a gallon of warm water.
Wear gloves to protect your hands from ammonia. And use a sponge to rub the walls again with the mixture.
When you’re done, pat the walls dry with a towel.
Difficult stains.
If you are facing a very difficult stain that does not come out with the previous steps, prepare a baking soda paste with water. Use a toothbrush to rub. Rinse with water and pat dry with a towel.
Start with the hard part.
Start cleaning the top of your walls and go down as you wash.
Always rinse with water to avoid leaving cleaner particles on the walls.
Use one bucket for the solution and one for clean water.
Conclusion.
Cleaning the walls of the house can be a fun task, you can do it as a team or alone. And it is something that will allow you to keep the beauty of your rooms longer, especially if you live with pets or children
